Our Mission and Beliefs

PoWeR LiGhTS

This theme is the basis of our mission as disciples of Christ in the world.  Each symbol represents actions we take in active discipleship.  The images below were designed through reflection on this theme

Dove Prayer - Central to our relationship with God is our life of prayer both individually and as a community.  We pray for the church, all those in need, and all of creation. Flame Give - The fire of the Holy Spirit gives to the baptized all that is needed for life and salvation in Christ.  As the Spirit's fire grows within us it spreads through the world.
Worship - The church, a place of refuge, is where the community gathers to offer thanks and praise to the Triune God, receive God's word, and receive the sacraments. Train - Jesus called, taught, and empowered the first disciples to follow him.  We strive to continue training new disciples, relying on Christ's call and strength.
Read - The Bible is the means through which God's person and presence are revealed to humanity.  It is the "cradle of the Christ child" in that it points us to Jesus. Serve - We are called to be faithful stewards of all that God has blessed us. Through serving our local and global communities we seek to use what we have been given to serve the poor and hungry.
Love  - In response to the gracious love of God in Christ Jesus, we are called to love as we were first loved.  Through the sharing of the gospel in word and deed we strive to love all.   http://archive.elca.org/emblem/images/newemblem/4colorELCAstacked.gif
