Our History

The need for a Lutheran faith community in the growing Plover area surfaced in the mid 1970's. Trinity Lutheran Church, along with the Evangelical Outreach Staff of the American Lutheran Church, began the necessary research and plans to meet the need.
  • On March 19, 1978 - (Palm Sunday) the first worship service was held in the Plover-Whiting School. Rev. John Hosmann had been called as the mission Pastor. 120 people attended the first service and from there attendance grew to 286 members.
  • April 6, 1980 - (Easter Sunday) the first worship service was held in a new church building.
  • February 15, 1987 - Paster Luther Siefkes was installed as our second pastor.
  • December 18, 1988 -Dedication of additional classrooms made and accomplished by the Good Shepherd members.
  • November 7, 1993 - Pastor Al Moen was installed as our third pastoral leader and remains so today. The initial financial debt was eliminated and plans for additional worship space were fulfilled.
  • May 13, 2001 - Groundbreaking for a new building addition.
  • April 14, 2002 - We dedicated our new Worship space as an ELCA congregation of about 801 baptized members.
  • May 2006 - With 858 members, we offer a variety of worship formats, have supported 9 seminarians through our Internship program, we have sent 4 of our members to seminaries, and many have attended the Lay School of Ministry.
  • February 2008 - Pastor Ben Sheets was installed as our first Associate Pastor.

Our ministries and discipleship continue to flourish.
